Job summary

City of New York is seeking a Supervising Electrician to oversee electricians in installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems on bridges and related infrastructure. Responsibilities include emergency deployment, PLC troubleshooting, and ensuring safety in heights and confined spaces.

The role is based at 300 West 206th Street, Manhattan, with a 35-hour work week (Mon-Fri) and potential for after-hours work. Civil service eligibility and licensure are required.

Qualifications

• Six years of full-time electrician experience within the last fifteen years, at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
• Four years of experience as described in 1, plus sufficient trade/technical training to meet the remaining experience; six months credit per helper/apprentice year; at least one year of supervising electrician experience in the last fifteen years.

Responsibilities

• Supervises electricians and other personnel in installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment and wiring for buildings, bridges, and traffic systems.
• Operates, inspects, maintains, repairs, tests, and adjusts equipment like generators, transformers, motors, switchboards, and controls.
• Responds to 24/7 emergencies city-wide; deploys electricians to support operational problems; troubleshoots PLC-related faults and restores services.
