Job summary

Broward College is seeking a skilled trades technician to perform advanced journey level work across electrical and building systems. The role requires installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and related equipment.

Applicants should have five years in electrical journeyman, a Florida driver's license, and relevant licenses. Desirable certifications include journeyman/master licenses, forklift, man lift, CDL Class D, and tech school credentials.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Five years of experience in the Electrical Journeyman level.
• Valid Florida Driver's License required or within 30 days of starting employment.
• Desirable licenses/certifications include Electrical Journeyman License or Master Electrical License, Fork lift certification, Man lift certification, CDL Class D, certification from an accredited technical school.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced skilled journey level work in electrical, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, and related building trades.
• Install, operate, maintain, service and repair systems and equipment.
• Apply skills in at least two standard trade disciplines.
• Comply with safety and college policies.

Job description

Under general supervision, the purpose of the job is to perform advanced skilled journey level work combining activities in various mechanical and building trade areas: installation, operation, maintenance, equipment and fixtures, service and repair of electrical, refrigeration, air conditioning, heating ventilating, and plumbing systems. Employees in this classification apply considerable skills to perform trade tasks in a minimum of two (2) of the standard trade disciplines, e.g., HVAC, electrical, pump-mechanical, plumbing. Performs related work as directed.

This position allows eligible veterans and their spouses to claim Veterans' Preference pursuant to Florida Statute 295. Certain servicemembers may be eligible to receive waivers for postsecondary educational requirements, in the employment by the state and its political subdivisions and are encouraged to apply for the positions being filled.

Salary range: $47,530.00 - $54,659.70 - Salary commensurate with education and experience.
