Broward College is hiring a Lead Electrician for the North Campus to perform complex electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance across buildings and equipment. The role requires leading other trades and ensuring safety standards are met.

The ideal candidate has five years of journey-level electrical experience, a valid Florida driver’s license, and potential certifications such as Electrical Journeyman or Master Electrical License, forklift/man lift, and CDL Class D.

Qualifications

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
  • Desirable: Electrical Journeyman or Master Electrical License; Forklift, Man Lift certification; CDL Class D.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical repairs to buildings and equipment including boxes, switches, wiring and fixtures.
  • Lead the work of other trades on projects as assigned.
  • Assist in preparation of cost estimates, material orders, and maintenance of records.
  • Provide technical guidance to facilities staff on project execution and safety procedures.
  • Operate and supervise use of heavy equipment as needed.

Job Profile SummaryUnder general supervision, the purpose of the job is to perform advanced skilled journey level work combining activities in various mechanical and building trade areas: installation, operation, maintenance, equipment and fixtures, service and repair of electrical, refrigeration, air conditioning, heating ventilating, and plumbing systems. Employees in this classification apply considerable skills to perform trade tasks in a minimum of two (2) of the standard trade disciplines, e.g., HVAC, electrical, pump-mechanical, plumbing.
