Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum five years of electrical trade experience or equivalent.
• Working knowledge across a broad range of electrical technician subjects.
• Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience in a trade or educational setting is helpful but not required.
• Completion of a recognized electrical trade program is helpful but not required.
• Michigan Journeyman Electrician License is helpful but not required.
• Successful background check as per Dorsey College policy.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons and hands-on labs across multiple subjects; connect theory to real-world work.
• Demonstrate electrical techniques, troubleshooting, safe work practices, and NEC compliance.
• Prepare safe, organized labs; inspect equipment and maintain a professional classroom.
• Evaluate student work with timely feedback; support struggling students.
• Lead, mentor, and support instructors; coordinate scheduling and coverage.
• Collaborate with the Program Director on course sequencing and program improvement.
• Use online tools to organize courses, communicate with students, and maintain records.
• Support enrollment, retention, and job placement efforts; participate in campus events.
