Job summary

Dorsey College is seeking an Electrical Technician Lead Instructor in Madison Heights to deliver high-quality instruction across electrical courses, mentor instructors, and oversee program delivery. The role emphasizes leadership, curriculum support, and maintaining an engaging, compliant learning environment.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, enforcing NEC and safety standards, and collaborating with the Academic Dean and Program Director to drive student success and program excellence.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of electrical trade experience.
• Broad knowledge across electrical technician subjects to support varying classes.
• Teaching, training, or mentoring experience in a trade or educational setting is helpful.
• Completion of a recognized electrical trade program is helpful.
• Michigan Journeyman Electrician License is helpful.
• Successful completion of a background check.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver classroom lessons and hands-on labs across multiple subjects.
• Demonstrate electrical techniques, troubleshooting, and safe work practices.
• Prepare materials and a safe, organized lab; inspect equipment and report problems.
• Evaluate student work and provide timely grades and feedback.
• Lead, mentor, and support instructors; coordinate class coverage and scheduling.
• Coordinate course sequencing and program improvement with leadership.
• Use online tools to organize courses, communicate with students, and maintain records.
