Job summary

Apex Engineering Group in Fargo, ND is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to guide projects from planning through design and construction. You will supervise engineers and designers, mentor staff, and serve as field project engineer when needed.

The role requires a PE license (ND or MN preferred) and 5–10 years of electrical design experience for commercial, healthcare, and educational facilities. Strong communication and CAD/BIM skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Electrical Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer Registration (ND or MN preferred) required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 5–10 years of experience as an electrical project engineer preferred.
• Experience with electrical systems in commercial, healthcare, and educational facilities.
• Experience with Civil electrical and water/wastewater electrical engineering is a plus.
• Process instrumentation and control engineering experience is a plus.
• Experience with industrial clients is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of codes and standards; excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional electrical engineering services for clients: planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction observation, and project management.
• Delegate and supervise project tasks to junior staff and technicians on the project team.
• Communicate updates and progress during all phases of projects.
• Attend company, project, and client meetings regularly.
• Interact with the public in meetings and notices as required; handle difficult conversations professionally.
• Follow CADD/BIM procedures and company safety policies.
• Work independently and in a team environment; mentor junior staff.
• Travel and out-of-town stays may be required.
