Sargent & Lundy is seeking a distribution design engineer to join our team in a hybrid role, split between office and remote work. You will lead engineers and designers, applying your knowledge of distribution design practices to develop sketches, work packages, and plans for 4 kV through 38 kV projects.

You will review calculations with a focus on safety, code compliance, and client requirements. Strong communication and leadership are essential for coordinating with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in design-related field or a 4-year non-engineering degree is required.
• 6+ years of experience in electric utility distribution or related field.
• Knowledgeable in distribution design methods and applicable codes and standards (NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE).
• Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and distribution software such as GIS tools.
• Able to lead a project team and coordinate with clients.

Responsabilités

• Prepare/review construction sketches and work packages for overhead and underground distribution facilities (4 kV through 38 kV).
• Conduct pole loading analyses, voltage drop and flicker calculations, and cable pulling plans.
• Develop bills of materials and cost estimates for distribution projects.
• Coordinate joint use, traffic control plans, and permit drawings.
• Support preliminary project scoping and field activities as needed.
• Assist with maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components.
