Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Lead Director of Clinical AI to steer enterprise AI strategy and governance across production systems. You will lead a team of data scientists, partner with product and engineering, and ensure AI solutions meet clinical, regulatory, and quality standards at scale.

The role focuses on building rigorous, ethical, and auditable AI capabilities for clinicians and members, delivering evidence-backed insights across CVS Health businesses with a strong emphasis on reliability

Qualifications

• 10+ years of analytics/data science experience with ML/NLP and generative AI.
• 5+ years directing AI/ML across multiple teams.
• 5+ years of people management with hiring and coaching.
• Healthcare AI/analytic delivery to production at enterprise scale.
• Hands-on with model evaluation, monitoring, lifecycle management.
• PDF or healthcare governance experience (HIPAA/NCQA) is valued.
• Proficient in Python and SQL; able to guide code and model work.
• Strong communication to senior product/engineering and executives.

Responsibilities

• Set AI strategy and goals for the portfolio with product/engineering.
• Shape technical direction and ensure a unified portfolio trajectory.
• Ensure AI capabilities fit within the clinical intelligence platform.
• Translate regulatory requirements into engineering and modeling practices.
• Advance use of modern AI methods; leverage LLMs and generative AI.
• Lead evaluation, monitoring, and validation to ensure trustworthy outcomes.
• Improve cost, latency, reliability, and scalability in production.
• Drive time-to-market with reusable model patterns and evaluation tools.
• Manage and develop data scientists across squads; oversee performance.
• Hire, coach, and retain top AI talent for scalable growth.
