Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Lead Director, Clinical AI to drive production clinical AI strategy and execution across the enterprise. You will build and lead a team of data scientists, collaborate with product and engineering, and ensure governance, compliance, and responsible AI practices in alignment with regulatory standards.

The role focuses on scalable AI that delivers evidence-backed insights from clinical data, with emphasis on latency, reliability, cost efficiency, and impact across CVS

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in analytics, data science, or applied AI, with hands-on depth in ML/DL and NLP/LLMs.
• 5+ years setting AI/ML technical direction across multiple teams.
• 5+ years of people management experience with hiring and development.
• Experience delivering healthcare AI or analytics capabilities to production at enterprise scale.
• Deep experience with production ML discipline including evaluation, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Experience operating within healthcare regulatory and governance constraints (HIPAA, NCQA, etc.).
• Fluent in Python and SQL, with ability to review and guide code and models.
• Strong communication and collaboration, able to engage exec audiences.

Responsibilities

• Set the AI strategy and technical goals in partnership with product and engineering.
• Co-shape the technical direction of the portfolio, resolving cross-discipline tradeoffs.
• Ensure clinical AI capabilities fit within the broader clinical intelligence platform.
• Align AI use with CVS Health regulatory policies and standards.
• Advance the portfolio's use of modern AI/ML techniques, including LLMs and generative AI.
• Raise the bar on model evaluation, monitoring, and clinical validation.
• Drive cost, latency, reliability, and scalability improvements in production AI.
• Accelerate time-to-market for new clinical AI capabilities with reusable patterns.
• Directly manage and develop a team of data scientists across squads.
• Hire, coach, and retain top clinical AI talent and leaders.
