Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Lead Director of Software Engineering who thinks like a founder, executes like a principal engineer, and leads at the highest levels. You will set the bar—and then raise it.

You will drive technical strategy across a multi-team organization (50-150+ engineers), embedding AI/ML automation into the lifecycle and owning delivery outcomes. You will partner with Product, Data, and healthcare leaders to translate strategy into engineering bets.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading large-scale engineering organizations.
• Deep, hands-on foundation in distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
• Proven AI platform ownership with production deployments and AI pipelines.
• Track record of migrating monoliths to microservices under business pressure.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy across a multi-team engineering organization (50-150+ engineers).
• Embed LLMs, generative AI, agentic workflows, and ML-powered automation into the lifecycle.
• Own delivery at velocity and be accountable for outcomes.
• Partner with Product, Data Engineers, and health care leaders to translate business strategy into engineering bets.
• Be the technical voice in the room, addressing debt and timelines.
