Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing is seeking an experienced Technician I in Mobile, AL. You will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a diverse fleet, diagnose issues, and ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.

You will lead by example, mentor others, and work independently with support when needed. This role offers a $1,000 sign-on bonus, first-shift hours 6am–2pm with potential shift differentials, extensive training through Penske’s programs, and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• 6 years of practical experience with truck and tractor-trailer maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Specialized training and experience in diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials); ASE Certification and 608/609 certifications preferred.
• Experienced using all tools of the trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, and hand and power tools).
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
• Performing preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision.
• Repairing and troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials) and replacing assemblies as needed.
• Keeping work area clean and safe.
• Using Penske tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Learning Penske’s technician training to advance skills.
• Working on other projects as assigned by supervisor.
