Selective Insurance is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer with strong Cloud and CI/CD expertise to modernize our delivery pipelines and automate security controls. The role emphasizes hands‑on leadership, architectural oversight, and collaboration with engineering teams across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate will drive DevOps best practices, champion IaC, and mentor teams while aligning with governance and security requirements.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in applications development.
3+ years designing DevOps pipelines using Azure DevOps, SonarQube and YAML.
Prior experience as a DevOps engineer with focus on Azure Cloud Services.
In-depth knowledge of Azure services including Azure Compute, Storage, Networking, and Security.
Proficiency in Azure DevOps and building CI/CD pipelines, including Azure provisioning tasks.
Experience with IaC using ARM templates, Terraform, or Ansible.
Strong understanding of cloud networking and security best practices.
Experience integrating automated security tools into CI/CD pipelines.
Experience embedding SAST/DAST into deployment workflows.
Experience implementing policy controls in deployment pipelines.
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience scripting with Bicep, PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
Strategic leadership in CI/CD implementations in green/brown-field projects.
Understanding of shift left, continuous delivery, and related concepts.
Advanced experience with Git repositories and release management.
Knowledge of governance and audit requirements across the full SDLC.
Self-starter, able to work independently.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Able to mentor others and influence technical leaders.

Responsibilities

Designs and leads the implementation of Cloud-based architectures and containerization.
Designs and leads CI/CD and automation solutions focusing on scalability and security.
Creates release pipelines, process flows, and technical collateral.
Leads evaluation of DevOps solutions and designs required integrations.
Acts as a strategic thinker and internal consultant for DevOps practices.
Measures benefits and business value of DevOps improvements.
Presents complex solutions and collaborates across levels.
Identifies stakeholder needs and modernization opportunities across SDLC.
