Job summary

United Rentals, the world's largest equipment rental provider, is seeking a Lead, Dev SecOps to own end-to-end pipeline security across the development estate. You will empower Engineering and Software Development to embed security into every stage of delivery while enabling runtime AI protections for customer-facing features.

You will lead a virtual DevSecOps team, build a security champions network, and partner with AI governance to drive a scalable security program across cloud and on-prem

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, software engineering, or comparable work experience.
• 7+ years of experience in application security, DevSecOps, DevOps, or security engineering roles.
• Proven track record of building or maturing a pipeline security program (SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets, containers).
• Hands-on experience integrating security tools into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar).
• Strong understanding of modern software development practices and cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end application security pipeline: SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets detection, IaC scanning, and container scanning.
• Define and enforce control gates and manage the pipeline gating philosophy.
• Oversee AI Defense deployment and runtime protection across cloud providers.
• Build and sustain a security champions network and advise AI Governance.
• Coordinate with SecOps for incident response and executive reporting.
