Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage is seeking a Desktop Engineer to optimize the Windows desktop infrastructure, manage application packaging, and ensure desktop compliance. The role includes monitoring performance, guiding teammates, and acting as escalation lead for the Direct Services team.

The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving abilities, provide training, and lead small teams on IT project initiatives within the Information Technology department.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and 8 years of related experience.
Associate’s degree and 6 years of related experience.
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience.
Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience.
Satisfactory background check including criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
CJIS background check within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Configure and operate system tools to manage the Microsoft Windows desktop infrastructure.
Monitor system performance for accuracy and efficiency; recommend upgrades.
Provide technical guidance and informal training to coworkers and customers.
Lead small teams in OIT project efforts and serve as escalation point for complex issues.
