Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Lead Decision Intelligence Engineer in a remote/hybrid capacity focused on applying decision intelligence and agentic AI across the NBA platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 6+ years of software engineering, machine learning or decision intelligence experience with 1–2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong Python engineering experience building and operating production AI systems.
• Hands-on experience building agentic applications using LangGraph, LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar frameworks.
• Experience integrating Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Vertex AI, Anthropic, OpenAI, or comparable enterprise AI platforms.
• Strong understanding of Decision Intelligence concepts including modeling, optimization, and outcomes.
• Experience implementing LLM application patterns including tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation and memory management.
• Experience building evaluation frameworks for AI systems with automated evaluation and experimentation.
• Ability to map business processes into formal decision frameworks and communicate to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small engineering team while remaining hands-on.
• Strong communication skills to explain AI architectures to senior leadership.

• Architect, implement, and operate microservices delivering action and variant metadata and context-aware evaluation.
• Design decision intelligence models and optimize decision workflows.
• Lead AI governance, safety, and explainability initiatives across teams.
• Build agentic workflows that generate recommendations and actions with clear tradeoffs.
• Collaborate with product, data, and engineering to integrate decision intelligence into Humana platforms.
• Mentor junior engineers and uphold engineering standards and governance.
