Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Lead Decision Intelligence Engineer in Boise to own production-grade decision intelligence across the NBA platform. You will design models, build agentic workflows with LangGraph/LangChain, and lead a small team to deliver measurable member engagement improvements.

You will collaborate with product, decision science, and data teams to implement decision models, governance, and scalable AI solutions within Humana's healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
• 6+ years of software or AI engineering experience including 1–2 years in technical leadership
• Strong Python engineering experience building production AI systems
• Hands-on experience with agentic applications using LangGraph, LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar
• Experience integrating Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Vertex AI, Anthropic, or OpenAI
• Understanding of Decision Intelligence concepts: modeling, optimization, automation, outcomes
• Experience implementing LLM patterns: tool calling, RAG, memory, orchestration
• Ability to map business processes into formal decision models and communicate to stakeholders
• Proven ability to lead a small engineering team while remaining hands-on
• Strong communication to explain AI architectures to leadership

Responsibilities

• Model business decision processes and outcomes
• Decompose complex processes into decision graphs and services
• Determine where rules, models, or agentic systems add value
• Design production agent workflows with LangGraph and LangChain
• Build AI-powered capabilities in the Action Library
• Lead integration with enterprise AI platforms via Humana's AI Gateway
• Design retrieval augmented architectures for reliable decision context
• Operationalize reinforcement learning and decision optimization models
• Create evaluation frameworks for AI systems
• Ensure governance, safety, and auditability in healthcare environment
• Mentor engineers and drive execution across the workstream
• Collaborate with product, decision science, and data teams to productionize decisions
