Job summary

Humana is seeking a Lead Decision Intelligence Engineer to own production-grade decision intelligence capabilities across the NBA platform. You will model business decisions, design agentic workflows, and integrate with Azure OpenAI and Humana's AI Gateway while guiding a small team of engineers.

You will partner with product, decision science, and data science teams to deliver high-value, governable AI solutions that improve member engagement and outcomes in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Decision intelligence modeling — analyze and formally model business decision processes.
• Decision decomposition — break complex processes into decision graphs, services, and hierarchies.
• Optimization strategy — determine where rules, models, RL, or agentic systems create value.
• Agentic workflow delivery — design and implement production agent workflows with LangGraph/LangChain.
• LLM and agent engineering — integrate with Azure OpenAI via Humana's AI Gateway.
• Knowledge and retrieval systems — design retrieval architectures with vector search and knowledge grounding.
• Reinforcement learning integration — operationalize RL within NBA workflows for scalable deployment.
• Evaluation and experimentation — build frameworks measuring recommendation and decision quality.
• AI governance and safety — implement guardrails, observability, and auditability for healthcare.
