Job summary

Discount Tire is seeking a Principal Distribution Center Maintenance Technician to lead our DC maintenance strategy and drive improvements in service levels for stores and customers. You will manage conveyor systems, MHE, and facility infrastructure while coordinating with vendors to install and maintain key equipment.

The role supports startup of new multi-channel facilities, develops preventive maintenance programs, and ensures safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in material handling, automation, manufacturing, supply chain, and/or distribution in an omni‑channel environment.
• Experience with distribution center startups preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in developing and managing preventative maintenance programs preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high quality work products.
• Must be able to operate with sound reasoning and judgement and be resourceful.
• LEAN/Six-Sigma experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment and adhere to safety programs and policies.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of our conveyor system.
• Ensure compliance with site SOPs and procedures.
• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair conveyor systems, MHE, and building infrastructure.
• Diagnose and repair conveyors, motors, gearboxes, drives, sensors, and controls.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, control panels, wiring, and industrial electronics.
• Maintain forklifts and other MHE; coordinate repairs with vendors.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules based on manufacturer guidance and operation hours.
• Use CMMS to create, assign, and close work orders on time.
• Analyze CMMS data for failure trends and asset risks.
• Create maintenance reports and communicate health, downtime drivers, and actions to leadership.
• Lead reliability improvements and capital repair prioritization.
• Assist with installation and testing of new equipment; train maintenance staff.
