Job summary

Discount Tire is seeking a Principal Distribution Center Maintenance Technician to lead maintenance for our high‑volume distribution center in support of rapid growth. You will oversee conveyor systems, MHE, and facility infrastructure, coordinating with vendors and internal teams to maximize uptime and safety.

Candidates should bring 7+ years of relevant experience, strong problem‑solving skills, and a track record of developing preventive maintenance programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 7+ years of experience in material handling, automation, manufacturing, supply chain, or distribution in omni‑channel environment.
• Experience with distribution center startups preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in developing and managing preventative maintenance programs preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to use sound reasoning and judgment with resourcefulness.
• Proficient in Six-Sigma/LEAN problem‑solving approaches.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for team members and enforce safety programs.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of conveyor systems.
• Manage compliance with site SOPs and drive uptime targets.
• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair conveyor systems, MHE, and building infrastructure.
• Diagnose and repair motors, gearboxes, drives, sensors, and electrical/mechanical components.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, control panels, and wiring.
• Maintain forklifts and other MHE; coordinate vendor support.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to improve reliability.
• Develop preventive maintenance schedules based on manufacturers’ recommendations.
• Use CMMS to create, assign, and close work orders diligently.
• Monitor PM completion, identify overdue tasks, and take corrective action.
• Analyze CMMS data for failure trends and asset risks.
