Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Field Installation Lead for the Hampton Roads area. This role centers on leading installation crews, reading blueprints, and coordinating with office teams and clients on complex cabling projects.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of crew leadership and 5+ years installing structured cabling (Cat5/6, Fiber, patch panels) plus industry trainings. A valid driver’s license, own basic tools, ability to pass background checks, and DCJS licensing readiness are required.

Qualifications

• Three years leading installation crews and managing field projects.
• Five years installing/troubleshooting structured cabling systems (Cat5/6, Fiber, Patch Panels, 110/66-Blocks).
• Industry trainings: BICSI Installer/Technician, Panduit, Ortronics or equivalent.
• Experience with audio/video and/or security/surveillance is a plus.
• Own basic industry tools and a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation crews and manage field projects.
• Read blueprints and coordinate with project teams and clients.
• Install and troubleshoot structured cabling systems (Cat5/6, Fiber, racks).
• Ensure safety protocols and pass background checks; DCJS licensing readiness.
• Travel to and work on multiple job sites; maintain professional appearance and communication.

Salary: $25 - $40 per hour

Job Details

• Three years leading installation crews, running projects, reading blueprints, communicating with office team, project team and client.
• Five years installing/troubleshooting structured cabling systems (Cat5/6, Fiber, Patch Panels, 110/66-Blocks, 25-Pairs, Building racks, ladder rack, grounding/bonding)
• Applicable Industry trainings - BICSI Installer/Technician, Panduit, Ortronics or equivalent
• Experience with audio/video and/or security/surveillance is a plus
• Familiarity with construction techniques
• Computer and networking experience
• Own basic industry tools
• Reliable Vehicle with valid driver license
• Professional appearance with friendly, responsive attitude
• Excellent communication skills
• Desire to learn and grow
• Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and be versatile
• Ability to pass background check and become DCJS licensed
• Must be able to work on ladders and use power tools while adhering to all the safety protocols.
• Must have applicable experience OR demonstrate very good motivation to learn.

This position resides primarily in the field. Our HQ is in Williamsburg. Job sites in Greater Hampton Roads and Richmond.
