Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Lead Audio-Video Installation Technician in Williamsburg, VA to lead field projects, install and troubleshoot commercial AV systems, and mentor junior technicians.

You will coordinate with sales engineers, project teams, and contractors to ensure safe, high-quality installations across the Greater Hampton Roads and Richmond areas. Strong communication and leadership are essential for success.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Audio-Video Installation Technician with experience installing and troubleshooting commercial AV systems. This role is ideal for someone who can lead projects in the field, mentor junior technicians, and ensure high‑quality installations from start to finish.

Projects range from simple conference room setups to fully integrated commercial building systems. This position is primarily field‑based, supporting projects throughout the Greater Hampton Roads and Richmond areas.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and oversee commercial AV installation projects
• Train and mentor junior technicians onsite
• Coordinate with sales engineers, project teams, clients, and contractors
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot AV systems and infrastructure
• Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to client expectations
• Maintain professional communication and strong customer service throughout installations

Required Experience & Skills

• AV Installation & Technical Expertise
• 5+ years of experience installing and troubleshooting commercial audio/video systems
• 3+ years leading AV installations or supervising technicians
• Experience with:
  • Flat panel displays
  • Projectors
  • Structured cabling systems
  • 25/70-Volt audio systems
  • Video distribution systems
  • IP encoders
  • Control systems
  • DSP systems
  • Rack building and wire lacing
  • Cabling rough‑ins

Certifications & Industry Training

Experience or training with the following is highly preferred:

• AVIXA / InfoComm CTS
• Biamp
• Crestron
• Extron
• Legrand AV

Additional Preferred Skills

• Structured cabling experience
• Security/surveillance system experience
• Construction industry familiarity
• Computer and networking knowledge

Qualifications

• Own basic industry tools
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a background check and obtain DCJS licensing
• Comfortable working on ladders and using power tools safely
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Professional, dependable, and team‑oriented attitude
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt in fast‑paced environments
• Strong willingness to learn and grow within the industry
