Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to define and own enterprise backup and data protection platforms, including Cohesity, Commvault, and NetBackup. You will lead resiliency design reviews, mentor engineers, and serve as the primary owner of critical firm data assets.

You will drive 7x12 shift coverage, oversee incident response, implement AI-enabled reliability workflows, and collaborate with teams to set service level objectives and guardrails.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on site reliability engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.

Responsibilities

• Consistently model and champion site reliability culture and practices, documenting and sharing knowledge within your organization via internal forums and communities of practice
• Lead hands‑on administration, backup policy configuration, disaster recovery operations, and platform management across Cohesity, Commvault, and NetBackup environments, including migration planning for legacy systems
• Drive operational backup initiatives covering data protection, retention, and file recovery to meet operational recovery requirements, including oversight of backup telemetry, reporting, and annual certification processes
• Lead initiatives to improve the reliability and stability of data protection applications and platforms using data‑driven analytics to improve service levels, proactively identifying and resolving technology‑related bottlenecks
• Drive collaboration with your team to identify comprehensive service level indicators and partner with stakeholders to establish reasonable service level objectives and error budgets
• Serve as the main point of contact during major incidents for data protection applications, applying strong incident management and escalation skills to identify and resolve issues quickly to minimize financial impact to the business
• Use enterprise-authored AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate major-incident triage, troubleshooting, and post-incident analysis, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements
• Lead reuse-first adoption of AI-assisted reliability workflows across the software development lifecycle and toolchain practices — including CI/CD quality checks, test and validation automation, and operational readiness — ensuring traceability, auditability, resiliency, and security controls
• Provide a high level of technical expertise across one or more technical domains and deliver advice and mentorship to other engineers on the team
