Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Ohio seeks a Data Center Chief Engineer to oversee electrical, mechanical, and fire safety systems across a data center infrastructure.

You’ll lead preventative maintenance, incident response, and guide technicians and vendors to uphold safety and reliability. The role requires hands-on experience with power distribution, switchgear, UPS, chillers, and building management systems, plus strong communication skills to translate complex tech for leadership.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance, or 3+ years of electrical facilities maintenance and 2+ years of mechanical facilities maintenance experience
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for facilities-related issues across critical systems (switchgear, generators, UPS, cooling, etc.)
• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting within SLAs
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with Facility Manager to set team culture
• Create and deploy standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor teams
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to increase efficiency
• Work outside of normal hours for maintenance and emergencies
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences
• Coordinate projects with IT managers and business leaders to optimize safety, performance, and reliability
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff
• Establish benchmarks, analyze, and report on facility operations and maintenance
• Utilize MS Excel, Word, Outlook for day-to-day tasks
