Job summary

DM Burr Group is hiring a Full Time Lead Custodian - 1st Shift for the Lake Orion area in the Lake Orion School District. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm. Base wage $16.75/hour with a market wage of $17.92/hour with timely attendance.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED or technical school certification.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• 0-6 months custodial/janitorial experience using floor scrubbers, buffers, stripping machines.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Read and follow label instructions on cleaning supplies.

Responsibilities

• Use approved cleaning methods and materials.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment (floor scrubbers, buffers, stripping machines, vacuums).
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub and polish floors.
• Empty trash receptacles.
• Remove stains from rugs, drapes, walls and floors with cleaning solutions.
• Clean furniture, window sills, and walls.
• Dust and wash walls, ceilings, and light fixtures.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed.
• Stock/clean restrooms and break rooms.
• Record cleaning functions and report to supervisor.
• Perform light maintenance and report safety issues.
• Snow removal on sidewalks; mowing courtyards and exterior cleanup.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Use approved methods and materials in cleaning and caring for assigned facility.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as; auto floor scrubbers, burnishing buffers, stripping machines and vacuums.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
• Empty trash receptacles.
• May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• General cleaning furniture, window sills, and walls.
• Dust, wash walls, clean ceilings, and polish light fixtures.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment.
• Clean/stock all restroom, janitorial closet and break rooms.
• Record and document all cleaning functions on appropriate logs and report to Supervisor.
• Perform light building maintenance duties as needed.
• Report any major safety item for repair.
• Snow removal on sidewalks
• Mowing courtyards, weeding, exterior cleanup
• Work order completion
• Filter changes
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma, GED or technical school certification

• Requires the ability to read and follow label instructions on cleaning supplies
• Ability to follow basic verbal & written instructions.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Must have team aptitude and approach.
