Job summary

The DM Burr Group is hiring for a Full Time Lead Custodian- 1st Shift in Battle Creek, MI. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm in Harper Creek School District. Wage starts at $17.00/hour with a $500 hiring bonus after 90 days and DailyPay available. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, holidays, and training.

Primary duties include operating cleaning equipment, floor care, trash removal, and logs reporting. Experience is not extensive; training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or technical certification.
• 0–6 months custodial/janitorial experience using floor scrubbers/buffers/stripping machines.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and read labels on cleaning supplies.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and pay close attention to detail.
• Must be a team player with a flexible, proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Use approved cleaning methods and materials for the assigned facility.
• Operate and maintain equipment (floor scrubbers, buffers, stripping machines, vacuums).
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub and polish floors.
• Empty trash receptacles.
• Move furniture, boxes and equipment as needed.
• Record cleaning functions on logs and report to Supervisor.
• Perform light building maintenance and report safety items for repair.
• Snow removal on sidewalks; lawn/courtyard work as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

• Use approved methods and materials in cleaning and caring for assigned facility.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as; auto floor scrubbers, burnishing buffers, stripping machines and vacuums.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
• Empty trash receptacles.
• May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• General cleaning furniture, window sills, and walls.
• Dust, wash walls, clean ceilings, and polish light fixtures.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment.
• Clean/stock all restroom, janitorial closet and break rooms.
• Record and document all cleaning functions on appropriate logs and report to Supervisor.
• Perform light building maintenance duties as needed.
• Report any major safety item for repair.
• Snow removal on sidewalks
• Mowing courtyards and weeding
• Work order completion
• Filter changes
• Exterior cleanup
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• Education: High school diploma, GED or technical school certification
• Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• 0-6 months custodial/ janitorial experience using floor scrubbers, buffers, stripping machines.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Requires the ability to read and follow label instructions on cleaning supplies
• Ability to follow basic verbal & written instructions.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Must have team aptitude and approach.
