Job summary

The NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Correctional Sergeant I (S) at Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton, Burke County, NC. This role supervises shift line-up, assigns posts, and ensures the custody and welfare of offenders while maintaining security and order.

You will complete and review time reports, duty rosters, and performance evaluations; supervise subordinate officers; and work rotating duties.

Qualifications

• Must meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
• Pass a criminal background check
• Produce a negative drug screening result
• Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
• Possess a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

• Conduct shift line-up, assign posts, and inspect personnel for post readiness.
• Supervise and assign subordinate officers to areas or posts.
• Complete, review, and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, and evaluations.
• Account for persons and funds to ensure equipment readiness.
• Oversee subordinate officers' activities related to custody and welfare of offenders.
• Work rotating and varied duty assignments within the defined level of work.
