Job summary

South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a cafeteria supervisor to manage inmate food service staff and oversee daily operation in the facility’s cafeteria. You will train cooks, bakers, kitchen and dining staff, supervise daily duties, and work with inmate representatives to resolve issues.

The role requires experience in quantity and quality cooking, supervisory ability, and certification in ServSafe or commitment to obtain it within six months.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience required.
• Experience in quantity and quality cooking.
• ServSafe manager certification or within six months of employment.
• Must complete SCDC Training Academy or basic training upon hire.
• Must complete basic supervisory course within 18 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees in duties.
• Supervises all personnel in daily duties.
• Maintains internal security of cafeteria.
• Collaborates with inmate committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Prepares cook's worksheet and maintains records.
• Ensures compliance with health, fire and OSHA inspections.
• Oversees maintenance/repair on cafeteria equipment.
