Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a Lead Cook in Hampton, VA to prepare meals per approved menus, supervise dietary staff when necessary, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment. You will help train staff, monitor temperatures, and ensure portion control and waste reduction while meeting dietary needs of residents.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, leadership experience, and Serv-Safe certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days).

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have experience as a cook, preferably in senior living for fine dining.
• Must have Leadership experience.
• Must be Serv-Safe certified, or be willing to complete certification within 60 days of hire.
• Must have a basic understanding of food service operations including familiarity with other dietary position duties.
• Must possess the ability to read, write, and make simple calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present menu items according to standard recipes.
• Assist with training and supervision of dietary staff.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times.
• Participate in weekly cleaning routines planned by Dining Services Director.
• Report faulty equipment and broken or chipped items to supervisor.
• Ensure food temperatures are recorded and monitored.
• Observe safety and sanitation practices.
• Monitor and control portion sizes to minimize waste.
• Supervise dietary staff in absence of leadership.
