Job summary

Harmony is hiring a Lead Cook to prepare meals per approved menus, accommodating residents' dietary needs and ensuring quality in a senior living setting at 2 Fenwick Road, Hampton, VA 23651.

The role includes training staff, supervising in the director's absence, maintaining kitchen safety, and managing temps and portions to minimize waste. Evening shifts and a commitment to confidentiality are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience as a cook, preferably in senior living for fine dining.
• Leadership experience.
• Serv-Safe certification, or willing to complete within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to read, write, and perform simple calculations.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present menu items according to standard recipes.
• Assist in training and supervision of dietary staff.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times.
• Participate in weekly cleaning routines planned by Dining Services Director.
• Report faulty equipment and temperature issues to supervisor.
• Ensure leftovers are cooled, stored, identified and dated.
• Observe safety practices and monitor portion sizes to minimize waste.
• Attend required in-service and staff meetings.
• Familiarize with resident dietary requests and adjust as needed.
• Supervise dietary staff in absence of Dining Services Director and Supervisor.
