Job summary

Whitsons Culinary Group is seeking a Lead Cook to head the school nutrition kitchen, overseeing meal prep, service, and staff guidance to deliver nutritious meals that support student health and learning.

This full-time role requires 1 year of culinary experience, ServSafe certification, and a commitment to food safety. Mon-Fri, no nights or weekends, with paid training and opportunities for advancement within Whitsons.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; complete Whitsons and government-required training as necessary.
• Minimum 1 year of professional culinary or food service experience; school nutrition or institutional experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification required or must obtain within defined timeframe after hire; local safety certs may be required.
• Proficient in recipe procedures, cooking techniques, and English reading/writing to follow instructions and safety rules.
• Ability to lead a kitchen team in a positive, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and service of meals according to daily school menus and portion guidelines.
• Organize kitchen operations to ensure food is safely cooked, presented well, and on time.
• Guide team members in maintaining a clean, efficient, and friendly kitchen.
• Oversee food orders, inventory, and deliveries to keep operations smooth.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, ServSafe, and allergy accommodations; maintain logs and records.
