Qualifications

• 7+ years of cooking experience in high-volume, banquet, or production kitchens.
• Experience ensuring food quality, uniformity, and accuracy.
• Basic knowledge of sanitation practices and food safety guidelines.
• Ability to work well in a team and support kitchen operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepares complex food items following recipes and SOPs.
• Assists with setup, prep, and delivery of food products.
• Directs other cooks to ensure timely, accurate orders for the station.
• Completes prep sheets accurately and on time.
• Maintains cleanliness and order of kitchen equipment and workstation.
• Keeps cooler/storage organized and sanitary.
• Rotates food to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
• Assigns prep tasks to Line Cooks and Apprentices.
• Contributes to special events and functions.

Job Overview:

The Lead Cook assists kitchen staff by ensuring food orders are prepared accurately, properly, and in a timely manner for the assigned station. This role is responsible for following recipes, portioning standards, and maintaining consistency in food quality and presentation to meet customer and operational expectations. With advanced cooking skills and attention to detail, Lead Cook supports efficient kitchen operations and contributes to delivering a high-quality dining experience.

• Prepares more complex food items according to standard operating procedures and food safety and sanitation guidelines
• Assists with setup, prep work, and delivery of food products
• Directs other cooks to ensure food orders are prepared accurately and timely for assigned station

• Maintains cleanliness and order of kitchen equipment and assigned workstation
• Maintains cooler and storage areas in an organized and sanitary condition
• Rotates food products to ensure freshness and minimize waste
• Assigns prep work to Line Cooks and Culinary Apprentices
• Performs job tasks related to special events and functions

Job Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• 7+ years of cooking experience in any of the following types of kitchens: line, banquets/catering, or production
• Experience ensuring food preparation procedures meet quality, uniformity, and accuracy standards
• Basic knowledge of sanitation practices, quality control, recipe interpretation, and prep duties
• Proven ability to work as a team player and support overall kitchen operations
