Tigg's Canteen Services is hiring a Permanent Full-Time Lead Cook at the DeKalb County Jail in Auburn, IN. The role supports daily kitchen operations, leads inmate workers, and follows strict food-service procedures.

Starting wage is $18.00/hour with hours varying 9:00 AM–6:00 PM; weekends and holidays are required. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and more. Training available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and follow company recipes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong work ethic, integrity, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work effectively in a structured environment.
• Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and support kitchen operations.
• Ability to obtain the necessary facility clearance.

Responsibilities

• Leading, directing, and assisting inmate workers with kitchen activities.
• Preparing, cooking, and baking meals.
• Following company recipes and established food service procedures.
• Assisting with meal preparation and daily kitchen operations.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen.
• Performing kitchen cleanup and sanitation duties.
• Following all procedures required in a structured correctional facility.
