Tigg's Canteen Services Inc is hiring a Temporary Full-Time Lead Cook for the Porter County Jail in Valparaiso, Indiana. The Lead Cook leads inmates, assists with meal prep, and ensures a safe, organized kitchen in a structured correctional environment.

Starting pay is $21.00 per hour and benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off. Typical hours are 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM, weekends and holidays required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a structured correctional environment.
• Ability to read and follow company recipes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and assist inmates in the kitchen.
• Provide direction during meal preparation.
• Assist with food preparation, baking, cooking, and cleanup.
• Prepare meals according to recipes and procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized kitchen.
• Support daily kitchen operations and meal service.
• Work professionally within a structured correctional environment.
• Perform physical duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
