Job summary

The Bangs Nursing and Rehabilitation facility is seeking a cook to manage and operate the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. You will report to the Dietary Supervisor and ensure meals are prepared safely and in accordance with menus.

Responsibilities include preparing meals for large quantities, accommodating special diets, recording temperatures, and supervising dietary staff when needed. Experience in hospital or long-term care is preferred; ServSafe certification is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility for at least one year is preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
• Prepare tasteful meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Follow prepared menus and portion control guides.
• Prepare special diets accurately and record food temperatures.
• Prepare pureed foods.
• Cooperate with staff across departments and supervise in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
• Assist with serving meals and report resident care concerns to Administrator/Director of Nurses.
• Participate in orientation and training of dietary staff; present appealing food.
• Ensure cleaning schedules are followed; maintain sanitizer levels.
