Job summary

University at Buffalo Campus Dining & Shops seeks a Lead Cook to manage high-volume meal production, following standardized recipes and ensuring timely service for students, faculty, staff and visitors. You will oversee prep sheets, delegate tasks, and maintain safety and quality across shifts.

The role requires teamwork, strong customer service, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Overtime is required as per union contracts, with benefits included.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years professional cooking experience in varied techniques.
• Ability to follow standardized recipes and batch cook.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and presentation.
• Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a busy kitchen.

Responsibilities

• High-volume food preparation and cooking following recipes and production system.
• Maintain production and usage records as required.
• Minimize food costs by efficient use of ingredients.
• Supervise shifts, coach staff on knife skills and equipment use.
• Maintain sanitary, hygienic, and safety standards per HACCP and NYS DOH.
