Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a Cook at our Mechanicsville community. You will prepare meals per approved menus, supervise dietary staff when needed, and ensure safe, efficient kitchen operations.

Responsibilities include food temperature logging, portion control, and maintaining sanitation standards. Requires Serv-Safe certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days, plus experience in dining services.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in dining services.
• Serv-Safe certification required or within 60 days of hire.
• Basic understanding of food service operations and diet duties.
• Ability to read, write, and perform simple calculations.
• Able to learn quickly, follow directions, and work with a team.
• Experience in food preparation and cooking.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present menu items according to standard recipes.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area and kitchen.
• Supervise dietary staff in absence of Directors.
• Record food temperatures three times daily and report issues.
• Ensure leftovers are cooled, stored, and dated properly.
• Monitor portion sizes to minimize waste and assist with substitutions when approved.
• Attend required in-service meetings and training.
