Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a Cook to prepare meals according to approved menus and recipes, while accommodating residents with special dietary needs. The role involves supervising dietary staff in the absence of leadership and ensuring safe, efficient kitchen operations on a daily basis.

The position requires prior dining services experience, ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days), and the ability to read, write, and perform simple calculations.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in dining services.
• Must be ServSafe certified or willing to complete certification within 60 days of hire.
• Must have basic understanding of food service operations and other dietary duties.
• Must be able to read, write, and perform simple calculations.
• Must be able to follow oral and written directions.
• Must be experienced in food preparation, cooking, and estimating quantities.
• Must know sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present menu items according to standard recipes.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area and floors.
• Participate in weekly cleaning routines planned by the Dining Services Director.
• Report faulty equipment and remove damaged items from service.
• Observe and record food temperatures three times daily.
• Ensure leftovers are cooled, stored, identified and dated.
• Supervise dietary staff in the absence of leadership.
• Assist in training new dietary employees.
• Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
