Job summary

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Lead Cook to support the Restaurant Chef and daily kitchen operations. You’ll prepare made-to-order meals with consistency, care, and quality while guiding cooks on the line and ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are met.

Role may involve training team members, organizing prep, monitoring quality, minimizing waste, and assisting during high-volume periods. Competitive hourly pay and strong team culture offered.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of experience in a high-volume kitchen or similar leadership role.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items to order with quality and presentation.
• Support the Restaurant Chef or Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations and service flow.
• Train cooks and kitchen staff during prep and service.
• Monitor food quality before serving to guests.
• Organize prep lists, stock stations, and maintain product levels.
• Follow and enforce food safety and sanitation standards.
• Keep kitchen and storage areas clean, safe and organized.
• Support waste reduction and portion control in production.
• Communicate effectively with culinary leaders and team members.
