Job summary

Tigg's Canteen Services is seeking a reliable Lead Cook for Ottawa County Jail in West Olive, MI. This full-time permanent role offers a starting pay of $22.00 per hour, with a schedule typically from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

You will lead and train inmates in the kitchen, prepare meals from company recipes, and ensure smooth, compliant food service operations within a structured correctional environment. Ideal candidates bring integrity, teamwork and readiness to take on leadership responsibilities

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work in a structured correctional environment.
• Ability to read and follow company recipes.
• Ability to lead, instruct, and assist with kitchen operations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Weekend and holiday availability.
• Varying days and hours between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
• Ability to obtain clearance to enter the facility.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Lead Cook, you'll help keep the kitchen running smoothly and efficiently. You'll work alongside the food service team while providing direction and assistance with daily meal preparation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, instructing, and assisting inmates in the kitchen.
• Preparing meals according to company recipes
• Food preparation and cooking
• Baking
• Kitchen clean-up
• Following company procedures and food service standards
• Working effectively within a structured correctional environment
• Safely handling and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
