Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Controls Service Technician Team Leader to oversee service, repair, and design of HVAC building control systems. This role blends hands-on control expertise with team leadership, coordinating technicians, routes, and customer communication to ensure quality service and safe operations.

You will develop software, review schematics, and support commissioning while maintaining strong safety standards and performance reviews with the team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience with programming, installing, and/or commissioning controls systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC service industry.
• Strong understanding of building automation systems and related subsystems.
• Experience integrating low-voltage building subsystems using industry protocols such as Modbus, LON, and BACnet.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Advanced computer skills and CAD-related tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the service, repair, design, configuration, and operation of HVAC building control systems and low-voltage sub-systems.
• Develop complex software programs and support commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation.
• Create and coordinate flow diagrams, sequences of operation, bills of material, network layouts, electrical schematics, and submittal documents.
• Support day-to-day field technician activities, plan monthly routes, and deploy resources effectively.
• Analyze team and account performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend changes for profitability and safety.
• Coordinate with sales, service operations, and subcontractors to support bids and installations.
