Wunderlich-Malec Engineering in Asheboro, NC is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, and commission control systems for diverse clients. You’ll work on PLC programming, instrumentation, check-out, and panel layouts, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team on site.

You may lead projects from $50K to $250K, mentor junior engineers, and travel up to 30% to support installations and start-ups across manufacturing and data centers.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering required (Electrical preferred).
• Strong knowledge of control systems, wiring, and panel design.
• Experience with PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens) and SCADA.
• Familiar with DeltaV, AutoCAD, Fanuc, and vision systems.
• Willing to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and implements control systems to meet requirements.
• Develops schematics and panel layouts in AutoCAD.
• Documents sequences of operation and leads design reviews.
• Performs on-site checkout and start-up of the control system.
• Develop documentation and provide system training.
• Lead automation projects across multiple industries.
• Serve as technical lead and mentor junior staff.
• Act as Project Manager on smaller projects ($50K–$250K).
