Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering in Asheboro, NC, seeks a Controls Engineer to design and implement control systems, panels, PLC programs, and instrumentation across manufacturing and data-center projects.

You will lead design reviews, travel up to 30%, mentor junior engineers, and occasionally manage smaller projects from $50K to $250K, ensuring on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, and thorough documentation and start-up support.

Qualifications

BS in Engineering; Electrical preferred.
Deep understanding of control systems, components, and logic programming.
Experience with instrumentation and PLC systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens) desired.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement control systems (logic and hardware) to meet process requirements.
Develop schematics detailing configuration and wiring; layout control panels using AutoCAD.
Prepare sequence of operation documents and lead design reviews with customers.
Work at customer site for system checkout and start-up of integrated controls.
Develop final documentation and provide system training to customers.
Lead automation projects across multiple industries and mentor junior staff.
Manage smaller projects ($50K-$250K): execution plans, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
