Job summary

North Point Technology in Maumee, OH seeks an experienced Controls Engineer to lead a ground-up manufacturing automation project for a major automotive manufacturer. You will design, program, commission controls and manufacturing systems with a focus on Rockwell Studio 5000, Ignition, and PLC-to-MES integration.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience taking automation systems from initial design through commissioning and production launch, with strong PLC/HMI/SCADA and MES skills.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience designing, programming, integrating, and commissioning controls and manufacturing systems.
• Experience taking automation projects from design through commissioning and production launch.
• Experience with PLC, HMI/SCADA, and MES functionality beyond troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Rockwell ControlLogix/GuardLogix PLC programs from the ground up.
• Develop PLC architecture including ladder logic, tags, UDTs, AOIs, sequencing, diagnostics, alarms.
• Design and build Ignition HMI/SCADA applications and configurations.
• Develop and implement PLC-to-MES communication.
• Create PLC/MES transactions and handshakes for manufacturing operations.
• Support work-order verification, traceability, recipe management, production reporting.
• Integrate barcode/RFID systems and production tracking equipment.
• Configure Zebra printers and implement ZPL code for label printing.
• Lead startup, debugging, FAT/SAT, and production launch activities.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, MES, networking, and equipment communication issues.
