Job summary

North Point Technology is seeking a senior Controls Engineer to lead a ground‑up automation build for a major automotive manufacturer in Ohio. You will design, program, and commission ControlLogix/GuardLogix and Ignition solutions, integrating PLCs with MES and ensuring robust production traceability.

The role emphasizes hands‑on development of PLC, HMI/SCADA, and PLC‑to‑MES functionality, with a focus on new installation rather than maintenance. Strong startup experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/GuardLogix and Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000.
• Proven ability to write new PLC programs for equipment, stations, or production lines from scratch.
• Hands-on Ignition experience, including screens, scripting, and application architecture.
• Experience integrating PLCs with MES or manufacturing information systems.
• Understanding of work-order validation, traceability, recipes, production reporting, and serial-number tracking.
• Experience commissioning automated manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Allen‑Bradley PLC programs from the ground up using RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000.
• Develop PLC architecture including ladder logic, UDTs, AOIs, sequencing, alarms, and interfaces.
• Build Ignition HMI/SCADA applications, including screens, tags, scripting, alarms, and config.
• Develop and implement PLC-to-MES communication and transaction logic for operations.
• Support work‑order verification, traceability, recipe/model management, and production reporting.
• Integrate barcode/RFID systems and Zebra printers; configure ZPL code and label printing.
• Perform startup, debugging, FAT/SAT, and production launch; troubleshoot across controls and networks.
