Job summary

North Point Technology is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to lead a ground-up manufacturing automation project in Maumee, OH. You will design, program, integrate, and commission controls and MES functionality with a focus on Rockwell Studio 5000, Ignition, and PLC-to-MES integration.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience taking automation projects from design through commissioning and production launch, including HMI/SCADA development and comprehensive system documentation.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience writing new PLC programs from scratch.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/GuardLogix and Studio 5000.
• Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition and HMI/SCADA development.
• Experience integrating PLCs with MES or manufacturing information systems.
• Experience commissioning automated manufacturing equipment.
• Background in automotive or high-volume discrete manufacturing.
• Strong troubleshooting across controls, networks, and production systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop PLC programs from the ground up using RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000.
• Develop Ignition HMI/SCADA applications and architecture.
• Create PLC/MES transaction logic for manufacturing operations.
• Integrate PLCs with MES and manage traceability and production reporting.
• Configure Zebra printers and generate ZPL code for labels.
• Perform startup, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and production launch activities.
• Collaborate with IT, MES teams, and plant personnel throughout implementation.
• Develop and maintain controls documentation and backups.
