Job summary

North Point Technology is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to lead a ground‑up automation implementation for a major automotive customer in Maumee, Ohio. You will design, program, integrate, and commission controls and MES-enabled manufacturing systems with emphasis on Rockwell Studio 5000, Ignition, and PLC‑MES interfaces.

The role focuses on full lifecycle delivery from design through commissioning and production launch, with hands‑on development of PLC, HMI/SCADA, and MES

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience taking automation systems from design through commissioning and production launch.
• Experience designing PLC/ HMI/ MES functionality from scratch, not just maintenance or troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of Rockwell ControlLogix/GuardLogix and Studio 5000/RSLogix 5000.
• Experience integrating PLCs with MES or manufacturing information systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot controls hardware, PLC software, networks, and production systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Allen‑Bradley PLC programs from the ground up using RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000.
• Develop PLC architecture including ladder logic, UDTs, AOIs, sequencing, alarms, and interfaces.
• Design and build Ignition HMI/SCADA applications, screens, tags, scripting, alarms, and communications.
• Develop and implement PLC‑to‑MES communication.
• Create PLC/MES transaction and handshake logic for manufacturing operations.
• Support work‑order verification, traceability, recipes, production reporting.
