Job summary

North Point Technology is seeking a Controls / MES Engineer to lead a ground-up automation build for a major automotive client. You will design, program, and commission controls and MES interfaces, with a focus on Rockwell Studio 5000, Ignition, and PLC-to-MES integration.

The role requires hands-on experience from design through production launch, including PLC, HMI/SCADA, and MES functionality, in a high-volume automotive environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/GuardLogix and Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000.
• Experience writing new PLC programs for equipment, stations, or production lines from scratch.
• Hands-on experience with Inductive Automation Ignition.
• Experience integrating PLCs with MES or manufacturing information systems.
• Experience commissioning automated manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop PLC programs from the ground up (ControlLogix/GuardLogix).
• Develop PLC architecture: ladder logic, tags, UDTs, AOIs, sequencing, diagnostics, alarms.
• Build Ignition HMI/SCADA apps: screens, tags, scripting, alarms, configuration.
• Develop PLC-to-MES communication and transaction logic.
• Support startup, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and production launch.
