Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Huntsville, AL seeks a Lead, Composites Manufacturing Engineer to oversee advanced composite part fabrication at the AMF-North facility. You will manage complex projects, write process documentation, and lead qualifications for new equipment, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.

The role requires senior experience, strong project leadership, and hands-on engineering with composites, GD&T, and CAD tools, to drive process improvements across production lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Responsibilities

• Champion process improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
• Train and mentor less experienced engineers; lead transition efforts for programs moving to Huntsville.
• Lead qualifications efforts for new pieces of equipment.
• Plan, develop, initiate and maintain processes for fabrication of advanced composite parts.
• Create detailed work instructions, procedures, PFMEAs, and JSAs meeting design, process, quality, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Provide shop floor support of advanced composite manufacturing processes.
• Provide technical guidance and/or training to shop floor, design and management teams.
• Analyze engineering drawings and specs to develop robust part and tooling designs; interface with support groups to ensure safety and quality.
• Present fabrication processes at customer readiness reviews and change boards; travel <5% may be required.
