Job summary

Naval District Washington (NDW) seeks a Community Recreation Manager to plan, promote and implement a wide range of MWR programs across base facilities. You will collaborate with partner organizations and base units to execute events and classes that engage personnel and families.

The role requires strong leadership, program development and administrative skills, with a focus on safety, budgeting and effective outreach.

Qualifications

• Combination of experience related to customer service and activity based functions.
• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Knowledge of recreational programs and goals, principles, and methods for planning and conducting activities.
• Ability to create, negotiate, implement and sustain partnerships via various MWR agreements.
• Awareness of safety, security, and sanitation guidelines for facilities and activities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff, assign work, evaluate performance, and handle hiring actions as needed.
• Lead and instruct staff in delivering workshops and outdoor activities.
• Manage and coordinate multiple recreation programs across CNIC approved standards.
• Develop and maintain community partnerships and program outreach.
• Oversee program administration, data collection, and POS transactions; ensure DARs and inventories are completed.
