Job summary

First Mid Bancshares, Inc. is seeking a skilled Loan Documentation Specialist to join our Loan Operations team in Mattoon, IL. You will ensure compliance, prepare loan documents, and coordinate with loan officers to keep processing accurate and timely.

You will mentor processors, review collateral verifications, and help implement new procedures, with a strong focus on accuracy and regulatory conformity.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of internal policies and applicable laws to ensure loans meet requirements.
• Ability to advise leadership and guide staff; fosters cross-functional teamwork.
• Broad knowledge of loan documentation for commercial loans and CRE.

Responsibilities

• Identify and report non-compliance in completed commercial loan files and clear deficiencies with processors/loan officers.
• Develop understanding of updated regulatory and policy exceptions.
• Review business entity documents, confirm authorization to borrow, determine signers, ensure resolutions drafted.
• Review loan write-ups and apply terms to loan documents.
• Lead communication with loan officers and credit administration to resolve discrepancies.
• Provide training for complex loans including documents for complex structures.
• Mentor loan processors; identify control weaknesses with recommendations.
• Handle complex customer issues and projects of diverse scope.
• Analyze collateral verifications via UCC searches, title commitments and appraisals; initiate lien perfection.
• Update input/documentation checklists for compliance and procedures.
• Provide subject matter expert knowledge to loan officers on loan documentation.
• Review monthly analytics reports for data integrity and corrective actions.
• Implement new processes and participate in conversions with Fiserv.
• Backup for Consumer Loan Documentation Specialist and Loan Operations Coordinator.
• Complete required training and perform other related duties.
